Omen Presents: Thirteen
Transcript
Hello, friends! My name is Tim Krause, creator of Omen, and welcome to a special spooky edition of Omen Presents! We're busy working on our second season of swashbuckling fantasy adventures. But around this time of year, I always enjoy listening to the many, MANY great horror audio dramas out there. That's why, for the next five weeks in October, I thought it'd be fun to highlight episodes from five incredible horror shows made by my podcasting friends. I really hope you'll love listening to them as much as I do.
For the first week of October, I'm really excited to share a truly special horror anthology. "Thirteen" is a monthly audio fiction featuring atmospheric stories that will make you smile, break your heart, and leave you wishing you had a nightlight. My friend Brooke Jennett--along with fellow writers and actors Ian Epperson and Bridgett Howard--craft some of the most engaging slow-burn horror fiction I've ever heard. Paired with a superb soundtrack by Caleb Ritchie, "Thirteen" is the perfect show to curl up and relax with at the end of a long day.
With new episodes released on the thirteenth of each month, "Thirteen" has kept me enthralled with deeply personal stories that always strike me as effortlessly authentic and unapologetically intimate. I guarantee there's an episode of "Thirteen" that will feel like it was made just for you. And if you've got your own ghost story to share, Thirteen is always interested in reading fan submissions!
The episode you're about to hear is part one of "The Fall of '98"--a five-part story that explores the feel as well as the fear mongering of a small town community during the moral panic of the nineties. Youth group lock ins, games of Bloody Mary at slumber parties, and awkward highschool romances all provide a seemingly innocent backdrop for a mysterious string of local serial murders. You can listen to the entirety of "The Fall of '98", as well as each beautiful episode of "Thirteen" at https://thirteenpodcast.com/. So without further ado, Omen Presents Thirteen's "The Fall of '98 -- Part One: The End of Summer". Happy Halloween and until next we meet, fair winds and following seas!
