Omen Presents: The Subjective Truth
Transcript
Hello, friends and happy holidays! I'm Tim Krause, creator of Omen, and welcome back to Omen Presents--a between-season series that features episode spotlights from my audio drama friends that you're really going to enjoy while we're busy working on season two. This episode will be the final Omen Presents of 2022. So I thought I'd quickly recap my Omen journey this year, not unlike those letters you sometimes get in Christmas cards that you never get around to reading.
So I began 2022 finalizing the script for Omen's first bonus anthology episode, Apocryphal Accounts, which took a lot longer than I had anticipated. I had originally intended to keep each of the five scenes around ten minutes long. But I was also preparing to write Omen season two at the same time. So ideas for foreshadowing and laying the groundwork for future character development quickly ballooned the first volume of Apocryphal Accounts into this big 2-hour bookend event for Omen. Don't get me wrong--I'm really proud of how it turned out in the end. But you'd think I'd have learned by now not to underestimate the time needed to create. It took a few more months to record, edit, and finalize Apocryphal Accounts--as well as create all the artwork and set up all the different e-commerce platforms. By the way--have I mentioned Apocryphal Accounts is on sale for 3 bucks on Apollo right now?
If you love Omen and want to support us, our 2-hour season one anthology--Apocryphal Accounts--is now only $3 on Apollo! Apollo is an awesome new audio fiction app that helps connect fans with great new shows and gives audio drama creators like me a platform that caters exclusively to great audio fiction. $3 is the lowest price Apocryphal Accounts will ever be, so if you haven't already, please grab it for yourself or an Omen fan in your life on the Apollo Podcasts app before January 9th, 2023. But however you choose to support us, thank you so much for listening to Omen and thank you for your love and encouragement!
Anyway--after Apocryphal Accounts was finally complete, I spent the next six months switching gears between writing Omen season two and traveling to podcasting conventions around the country. Sarah and I had a lot of fun meeting and reconnecting with some of the most talented and beautiful people in audio drama. But the cons themselves were exhausting and, if I'm being honest, quite disappointing. Releasing the first season of Omen during a worldwide pandemic had a lot of drawbacks--one of which was the near-eradication of podcasting fan conventions. So yeah--to combat the crushing loneliness of self-isolation, we tried to connect with other creators at industry conventions run by people who don't seem to know--or care to know--the first thing about audio drama. So until fan conventions are a thing again, I'm going to focus more on creating Omen and less on… networking.
Besides those big milestone events, we've just been keeping our heads down and creating. Sarah is nearly finished with both the novelization of Girl in Space season one, as well as the scripts for Girl in Space season two! And I've kept busy writing, outlining, and trying to figure out how best to tell the considerably more complicated story of Omen season two. Other than that, there's been a lot of cooking, a chaotic new kitten in our home, and just appreciating the relatively quiet, hobbit-like existence of self-employed writers. We've also been catching up with a lot of great audio dramas!
Speaking of great audio drama, I thought we'd end Omen Presents 2022 with one of the all-time greats. If you haven't already listened to "The Subjective Truth" yet, give yourself the gift of incredible storytelling, captivating characters, and amazing sound design. "The Subjective Truth" is an award-winning paranormal docu-drama created by my friends Dany and Jeremy Ellet. The show perfectly captures the allure of an unsolved mystery, investigating the story of a missing amateur treasure hunter and quickly unfolding into an observation on the subjective nature of reality, with elements of futurology, comedy, horror, and high strangeness.
Jeremy and their team are currently working on the highly anticipated second season of "The Subjective Truth", so you can binge all of the addictive first season at https://goodpointepodcasts.com/. And without further ado, Omen presents episode one of "The Subjective Truth". And until next we meet in 2023, fair winds and following seas!
