Omen Presents: Moonbase Theta, Out
Transcript
Hello, friends! I'm Tim Krause, creator of Omen, and welcome back to Omen Presents--a between-season series that features episode spotlights from my audio drama friends that you're really going to enjoy while we're busy working on season two. If you love Omen and want to support us, you can listen to our new 2-hour anthology--Apocryphal Accounts--by either becoming a patron at patreon.com/omenpodcast or by making a $5 donation at omencast.com. But the best way to support Omen is to share our show with your friends and family. Thank you so much for listening and thank you for your love and encouragement!
Script writing for Omen season two is going great so far! I'm already halfway through episode three and constantly in a state of surprise by how much I'm still learning about these characters. So far, the story is following different groups of our adventuring party as they hunt down leads and make individual discoveries about the terrible fate that's about to befall Oppara, the capital city of Gwen's home country of Taldor.
As of now in the script, Gwen and Toby are busy checking in with Gwen's aristocratic family, Lewin is off consulting with an old friend on how best to deal with a still-at-large Mara, and Lola is reconnecting with a shadowy figure from her past. Even the season one villains are keeping busy in season two. Malik is frantically campaigning for Mayor back in Almas and Olivia is no doubt on her way to deal with our heroes in Oppara. With so many more plot threads and developments than season one, writing season two has so far been a very different but enjoyable challenge.
Another show I've been enjoying between writing sessions is "Moonbase Theta, Out"--an award-winning queer sci-fi audio drama created by our good friends at Monkeyman Productions. "Moonbase Theta, Out" is one of the most fascinating audio dramas in production right now, and I think their style of storytelling is really unique and compelling.
Set on a soon-to-be-decommissioned moonbase in the year 2098, the first season is told entirely through a single communication officer's weekly reports back to Earth as he counts down his final twenty weeks aboard the last moonbase. Season two, however, revisits the story of season one through more personal transmissions and journals from a wider selection of Moonbase Theta crew members. Finally, season three and the upcoming fourth and final season continues the story of Moonbase Theta, expanding the settings and cast even further. With excellent writing and an approachable and hopeful story, there's a lot to love about this show.
It's a really great time to start binging the first three seasons and two flashback miniseries of "Moonbase Theta, Out". Their finale season launches on October 30th, with a great five-episode prologue leading up until then! To hear all of Monkeyman Productions' excellent work, visit monkeymanproductions.com or wherever you listen to podcasts! And without further ado, Omen presents a special teaser episode of the first two seasons of "Moonbase Theta, Out". And until next we meet, fair winds and following seas!
