Omen Presents: The Call of Cthulhu Mystery Program

Transcript

Hello, friends! I'm Tim Krause, creator of Omen, and welcome to another special spooky edition of Omen Presents! We're busy working on our second season of swashbuckling fantasy adventures. But around this time of year, I always enjoy listening to the many, MANY great horror audio dramas out there. That's why, for all five weeks in October, I thought it'd be fun to highlight episodes from five incredible horror shows made by my podcasting friends. I really hope you'll love listening to them as much as I do.

For the fourth week in October, I'm so excited to finally feature one of my favorite shows made by one of my favorite people. Cat Blackard is not only an insanely talented writer and storyteller, but also the head of Omniverse Media, creator of the upcoming sci-fi animated series "Lightning Dogs", and showrunner for one of the best independent audio fiction experiences you can listen to right now--"The Call of Cthulhu Mystery Program".

For those who don't know, "The Call of Cthulhu Mystery Program" is a Lovecraftian horror/dark comedy where historical fiction and high-stakes hilarity meld in an unholy amalgam of cinematic audio drama and tabletop role playing. The show features award-winning sound design, awesome music scoring, and a rotation of talented voice actors, all bookended by a delightfully campy old-timey radio announcer schilling era-appropriate--albeit highly questionable--products. There's a lot to love about "The Call of Cthulhu Mystery Program" and if you haven't already subscribed wherever you listen, then you should pay a visit to https://www.cthulhumystery.com/ to check out all their amazing series.

And to hear even more from Cat Blackard, you can tune into the Write Now Podcast episode 151 where my partner Sarah interviews Cat. That's episode 151 of the Write Now Podcast with Sarah Werner at https://sarahwerner.com/. Sarah is also a voice actor in The Call of Cthulhu Mystery Program's upcoming series, "The Penumbral Gate", which is in the midst of crowdfunding right now. Please check out the show notes to see how you can help support Cat's work and the next chapter of "The Call of Cthulhu Mystery Program".

You're about to hear the first installment of "Night at Howling House", the newest story from "The Call of Cthulhu Mystery Program". If you enjoy Stephen King, "The Goonies", or "Gremlins", then you're going to love this 1920s Lovercraftian spin on 80s horror as five unsuspecting kids gear up to spend the night in a haunted house! So without further ado, Omen Presents "Night at Howling House Part 1: The Dare" from "The Call of Cthulhu Mystery Program". Happy Halloween and until next we meet, fair winds and following seas!
