Omen Presents: A Ninth World Journal

Transcript

Hey, friends! I'm Tim Krause, creator of Omen, and welcome to Omen Presents--a between-season series that shares production updates on Omen season two. As the name implies, Omen Presents also features episode spotlights from some of my audio drama friends that I think you're really going to enjoy in the meantime.

So we just released Omen's first bonus episode, Apocryphal Accounts, which is an anthology that highlights five new stories from some of my favorite characters in season one. It was really great reuniting with a portion of the Omen cast to record this episode. In fact we had so much fun, the finished episode turned out to be nearly 2 hours long! If you love what we do and want to support future seasons of Omen, you can download Apocryphal Accounts by either becoming a patron at patreon.com/omenpodcast or by making a $5 donation at omencast.com.

A big shoutout to longtime Omen patrons Vernon Vincent, Michael Beckwith, Harrison Werner, Ostium, Pumpkin Casius, Jasmine, Chad McKenna, J Michael, Staci Corcoran, Lysimache, Fred Greenhalgh, Ian O'Flynn, K. Aho, Christian O'Dell, and Travis Love. Thanks as always for being so awesome!

As far as Omen season two news, I've already started writing the script and have completed the first draft of the season two prologue and most of the first episode! As some of you may know, Omen has been adapted from my extensive game-mastering notes from running a Pathfinder tabletop role-playing game since 2015. I even separated our game campaign into chapters based on big milestones in the story. So just from the initial outline, I think I have a fairly clear idea about where I want the story of season two to go.

Funnily enough, Omen season two will actually coincide with our game's third season. This is mostly due to some major divergences in the script's adaptation. In particular--despite a very underwhelming defeat in our Pathfinder game--a certain demonic antagonist managed to survive in Omen and this will dramatically change the course of the story. That is one nice thing about adapting a tabletop role-playing game for audio drama--the favorite villain your players mopped the floor with can survive to fight another day within the podcast! I'm really looking forward to discovering how season two further deviates from my old GM notes!

If you enjoy Omen's characters, story, and tabletop gaming roots, then you're really going to love the fantasy sci-fi audio drama "A Ninth World Journal", created by and starring my friend David S. Dear. Based on the RPG Numenera, "A Ninth World Journal" takes place a billion years in the future, where humans attempt to thrive among the remnants of eight advanced civilizations. The mysterious vestiges of what was once highly advanced technology that served these civilizations has since left the Ninth World a weird and dangerous place.

This particular episode you're about to hear centers around Januae, a former member of a scientific organization, who uncontrollably teleports or "jaunts" to random far-off places after carelessly researching teleportation technology. Januae's old employers believe he's actually stolen this technology and are going to great lengths to track him down. So without further ado, Omen presents "Faster Raster", episode 6 from season three of "A Ninth World Journal". And until next we meet, fair winds and following seas!
